Who wouldn’t love the Volkswagen GTI? This car isn’t just a hoot to drive but also reliable and practical. And it got great mileage too! No doubt, this Volks model has been a recipient of 10 Best Cars award for three times now.

So can it get any better than that? Of course it can! Volkswagen proves that through its GTI-R Series.

According to Car and Driver, VW will bring the R-Series to the US market, and there’s a rumor that its name will be changed to R20. This highly-refined car will feature the powertrain of Audi S3. Such engine is expected to crank out 270 horsepower. Now that’s 70 horsepower increase from the standard GTI. Isn’t that something drivers have been praying for?

Car and Driver also says there will be nice choice of gear boxes – either a standard 6-speed stick or dual clutch DSG transmission which sends power to the front wheels. With this turbo four, along with the gear box choices stuffed under GTI’s hood, you can expect better handling and reasonably good fuel economy.
